The Sydney quarter-final round of the 2012 International Chinese Dance Competition took place on the 19th of August, 2012 at the Tom Mann Theatre.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China for hosting this international competition and providing such a wonderful platform to support Chinese culture across the globe. Our gratitude also goes to the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney for supporting the Australian Chinese Performing Artists’ Association in their dedicated planning and organising of this event.

Being a world-wide competition of traditional Chinese dance, competitions took place internationally to select representatives from each participating country. These representatives will be given the opportunity to travel to China for the grand final. Judges were asked to evaluate the dance techniques, skills and talents of the dancers, along with their choreography.

Our five judges for the Sydney quarter-final round of the 2012 International Chinese Dance Competition were:

As a choreographer she has created performances for Channel 7's annualCarols in the Domain and the TV Week Logie Awards, just to name a few. As the director of the Janice Breen Performance Studio, she has helped nurture many of the country’s young stars in the entertainment industry for over 40 years.

She herself has also performed with singers including Kylie Minogue, Frank Sinatra, Marcia Hines and Richard Simmons., at events such as the Opening of the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Virginia's accreditations include NIDA, the Sydney Dance Company, being the Head of Dance for The McDonald College Performing Arts School, and more.

With such amazing performances, it’s no wonder Sydney is regarded as an international cultural centre. At the end of the competition, Consul-general Wang Yun, Chairman William Yu and Chairman John Qian preceded onstage to present certificates and souvenirs to all participants.
